At
his clinic at UCSD, Dr. Parsons has treated more than
6000 patients who have IC. His UCSD laboratories pursue
a number of research studies aimed at identifying the
causes of IC and finding effective new treatments for
it.
The
innovative IC treatments available in Dr. Parsons’
UCSD clinic include multi-modal oral treatment plans
tailored for each individual patient to achieve relief
of symptoms and to prevent disease progression. For
treatment of IC, Dr. Parsons’ clinic also offers
intraurethral and intravesical instillations of new
medications.
Dr.
Parsons is certified by the American Board of Urology.
In addition to all of the standard urologic procedures,
Dr. Parsons has special training and experience in performing
extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) for stones
in the urinary tract and cryosurgery for carcinoma of
the prostate. Dr. Parsons and Dr. Joseph D. Schmidt,

of Urology, rank among the world leaders in experience
with prostate cryosurgery and in contributions to the
refinement of the technique.
